Dog Kennel

A dog kennel may be any of a number of structures or shelters for canines. These include such things as doghouses and runs. Usually, the term is used in reference to a smaller structure in which the animal is kept. There are plenty of regional variations when it comes to the use of this term.

Those meanings generally apply to dog kennel in the singular form. The phrase "kennels" is used to refer to a building or some other area where dogs may be kept and sometimes bred. A distinction is draw between breeding and boarding kennels.

Both dog kennel establishments related to breeding or boarding may not actually make regular use of individual kennels. Breeding kennels focus on the propagation of purebreds and are heavily regulated. Boarding kennels allow for dogs to be housed temporarily for a certain fee. The exact practices will vary according to the quality of the company.
