 Description

The Cockapoo has a face that resembles both the Poodle and the Cocker Spaniel. The back is sturdy and is as long as the dog is tall. The coat is either wavy or curly. Good natured and do well outside or inside.

Temperament

The Cockapoo is good with children and are easy to obedience train. This breed gets along well with other dogs.

Grooming

This breed requires a lot of grooming. Cockapoos shed little to no hair and are good for allergy sufferers.

Exercise

The Cockapoo will enjoy a nice daily walk and chances to run free in a safe enclosed area.

Origin

The Cockapoo originated in the USA in the 1960's. It is a cross between the Cocker Spaniel and the Miniature Poodle. It is getting popular in North America and may soon be a recognized breed. Like other crosses, the first dogs were the result of unplanned mating, but more recently, as numbers have increased, mating between the Cockapoos have become planned. The Poodle is evident both  in the face and coat texture, and in the personality of this new "breed." Like the Poodle, the Cockapoo is an intent observer, not given to the hyperactive excesses of many Cocker Spaniel.
